Eating out plant-based has become much easier over the past few years.  Below I've compiled a list of popular restaurants meals that are already or can be made vegan.  IMPORTANT: It is extremely hard to eat out WFPB and to that end I've tried to give some effort just to keep you on task vegan.  Eating out is almost inherently less healthy.

    Here is the simplest way to order a vegan meal at Chipotle:


    Choose a base: 

    1. Burrito, Burrito Bowl, Salad, or Tacos

    2. Pick all your toppings (see list below)

    3. Decide if you’d like to add sides like chips, guac or both.


    Burritos: 

    Chipotle’s burritos are made with a large, soft, warmed flour tortilla filled with any ingredient toppings you’d like (such as your choice of rice, beans, veggies, tofu, salsa, lettuce, and guacamole.)


    Burrito Bowls:

    These are essentially burritos without the tortilla served up in a bowl. People may choose burrito bowls because they prefer eating with a fork or looking for a healthier, gluten-free, or lower-carb option.


    Tacos: 

    You can order single tacos or a full 3-taco meal served up in soft flour tortillas or crispy corn tortilla taco shells. Fill your tacos with all the vegan fixins (such as your choice of rice, beans, veggies, tofu, salsa, lettuce, and guacamole.)


    Salads: 

    Chipotle salads are similar to Burrito Bowls except they’re on a bed of romaine lettuce instead of rice. You can load up all the toppings you’d like (such as beans, fajita veggies, sofritas tofu, corn, tomatoes, and salsa). In 2020 Chipotle rolled out a new option for salad lovers—their “Supergreens Lettuce Blend” which includes baby kale and baby spinach for a more diverse and nutrient-rich salad base. You can special-request this super greens mix instead of romaine in your salad.

    for general info:

    I’d like to clarify that many items that appear to be vegan aren’t.  The Vegetable spring rolls usually contain eggs, as found on most of the store’s allergy menus. So they aren’t vegan.


    The Teriyaki sauce they use contains honey, so the Japanese Teriyaki Bowl for example is not vegan.


    The Korean dishes contain fish/oyster sauce, and all the noodle-dishes contain eggs.


    The wontons all contain meat, so the wonton soups for example are not vegan despite having no non-vegan allergy ingredients, and thus seemingly vegan on the surface. But they aren’t.


    Finally, the Fortune cookies contain Eggs so skip on that little free dessert at the end of the meal.
